Portrait
PORTRAIT is the program that Cesare Chiacchiaretta and I presented at the ClarinetFest in Los Angeles in 2011. This concert is stili well engraved in our memory: every single song unleashed the enthusiasm of the audience that filled the hall, giving us unforgettable emotions. The choice of the pieces is the result of the experiences had in different musical genres: clarinet and accordion are instruments that lend themselves particularly to discover the repertoire of popular origin and the traditions of each musical culture. Oblivion, "La Muerte del Angel" and "Libertango" are among the most loved pages by Astor Piazzolla to which is added "Tango Club" by the ltalian composer Roberto Molinelli, from him also the "Nino Rota Suite" where the melodies of "Amarcord", "La Strada", "Otto e mezzo" and the Clowns bring us back to the magical atmosphere of Federico Fellini's films. "Guisganderie" by Faustine and Maurice Jeanjean since that concert has become a very popular piece among clarinetists all over the world. By the unforgettable Henghel Gualdi we have chosen "Passeggiando per Brooklyn", "Ninna Nanna" and the Blues from An American in Paris. From the repertoire of Giora Feidman Klezmer melody by Mula Sajevitch and the traditional "Patch Patch Patch". Czarda of Vittorio Monti and "1O km al finestrino " by Luciano Fancelli, "Apanei-te cavaquinho" by Ernesto Nazareth are the greatest hits Cesare Chiacchiaretta who by the way also composed his "Toccata" for the occasion.
